Today was a great day, busy, super busy, but good. Today was Adam's first day of school. He has been home with me for the past year doing an online program for 10th grade. So he was a little nervous to go back to his public high school. Rather, that should read, I was a little nervous for him to go back to his public high school. We have moved about 10 miles away from the school to a different neighborhood so we have to drive there. For the past 15 years, we have lived 100 yards from both the elementary, middle and high school. SO this commute is a little different for us. I was worried about the traffic as it was the first day of school and we have never ever driven to school before. We left REALLY early to beat the traffic. We got there about 45 minutes early and Adam was less than pleased with me. He said, "Mom, I could have slept more!" Typical teenager. So to spend the time, We went to the local coffee shop and I got a large coffee to the tune of $2.19. I know that this goes against my commitment, but I had to do something with the time. Plus, it got me out of the car for a couple of minutes, and away from the nervous, grouchy and tired 16.5 year old son of mine.
He wouldn't let me take any first day of school pictures of him, so as I drove away, I took a couple from my iphone. Not good quality at all, but I will always have them. Now that he is a Junior in high school, my taking pictures on the first day of school days are limited and this mom is not gonna pass up these few opportunities. Adam finished at lunch today, so I picked him up. We ordered in from the local Mexican restaurant and took my mom lunch. She needed help with her new printer so she treated us to a yummy lunch. I have such a generous mother and I love her a lot. We fixed her new printer and ate our yummy lunch at her house. Being that our time is limited now that Adam is not home schooling, we had to get home so he could get organized for school tomorrow. In other words, I put together his binders and folders. Then off to gym he went.
Amanda is doing well at school. She is so responsible and mature. She is going through "moving into the sorority house adjustment syndrome". I don't think she could have anticipated what it would be like to live with 65 other girls in one house. So, she is busy, busy, busy. She barely has time to talk to me:(. I strongly dislike that. But I am encouraging her independence.
So tomorrow is a new day of challenges and rewards. I am looking forward to it!!!

Coffee is the tricky part of the challenge - it just beckons us from practically every street corner. Be strong! You're doing great...
Oh those 16 year olds! I know your pain! We had a long conversation last night with ours about our finances and he just didn't quite understand...we finally told him to get back to us when he has daily bills. LOL!
Hang in there momma! We're all in this together!
Congrats on doing so well so far with this challenge. Like you when I make my mind up I'm determined to stick to it. Keeping busy and staying away from the stores that tempt me is quite helpful. Good luck for continued success.
