A Day to Remember September 11, 2011

It was 10 years ago today that I remember watching the worst terrorist acts that have ever happened to the United State of America. It was a dark time for me and my family. My dad was battling stage 4 lung cancer. My mother wasn't able to take care of him, so he was living with me. I believe this period of time may have been the darkest period of my whole life. The events of September 11 were too much for my dad to handle as he was struggling to breathe. I remember being so scared, scared to the deepest part of my soul. My dad died October 22, 2011. Just 5 weeks after the 9/11 attacks. Even after 10 years, when I go to this place in my mind, I get chills. I suffered post traumatic stress disorder from watching my father take his last breaths with me, alone in my bed. I have great memories of my dad. He was my special person. He and I were really connected, more than my other siblings. I was a true daddy's girl. We will have a big celebration this year on October 22 to celebrate my dad, Arthur Paul Greenfield.

On the spending front, it has been a tough couple of days. I spent $60 at the USC game yesterday. I had my 8 year old god daughter with me. She was here for her first ever football game. So when she asked for the $8 funnel cake, the $6 frozen lemonade etc. etc. etc I said yes. Cause what else is a spoiling dotting God Mom supposed to do? A couple more fun things about the game. My sister texted me that my little 10 year nephew Ben was at the game too. What were the odds that out of the whole LA Coliseum, that we would be in the same section, only 20 rows apart. It was so cute to go up to Ben and surprise him. He knows how much I LOVE USC football. He was so proud to have me there. And of course, WE WON. At the last seconds of the game. I really don't enjoy games that close. FIGHT ON!!!!

But, I am proud of myself in that my local super market was having a %50 meats sale today. I spend $99 on the week's necessary groceries. But included in that $99, I bought enough meat, chicken and pork to last a couple of weeks. It is all resting nicely in my freezer. I have a whole chicken in the crock pot as we speak. It will be used for meals ALL week. I am so happy as I have a crazy work week ahead of me.
